Where Can I Find a Marimba?
A marimba is a large percussion instrument that consists of a set of bars made from wood and pipes underneath the bars and is sounded with the help of mallets. In its standard form, the instrument is able to deliver 5 octaves, but there are smaller, 3 or 4-octave models available as well.

Marimbas are nowadays available from many suppliers – here is how to find one:
- -Decide on the size you need to be able to identify the right seller – if you are not going to play in an orchestra or band, you most probably don’t need a full-sized, 5-octave marimba, so you can refine your search of the right supplier in that direction;
- -Assign the budget – standard marimbas are expensive instruments, with price tags usually in the 10,000-20,000 dollars range;
- -Consider second-hand instruments – good-quality, sturdy marimbas are not harmed by the playing process, so if you are looking for a budget-priced instrument, check second-hand instrument stores, either traditional, brick-and-mortar sellers or online stores; Check for marimba online reputable dealers.
- -Consider marimbas with synthetic bars – this feature will further reduce the price and will give you an instrument that is more resistant and more suitable for being played outdoors or for learning and teaching purposes.
